What relevance do the Norman Conquest and the events of 1066 have to contemporary British politics? Everything and nothing.
On 24 September 2019 the Supreme Court handed down a judgment on the recent prorogation of Parliament – more accurately, its purported prorogation, because the judgment pronounced the attempt to prorogue unlawful and, therefore, null. The effect of the judgment was that there had been no prorogation. When Parliament resumed, all record of it was expunged from the Journal of the House of Commons.
