Points of the Compass
Matthew Howells introduces History Compass, a new concept in history publishing.
History Compass is a new online resource that aims to solve the problem of keeping up with new developments in history by providing historians with regularly updated overviews of the important trends, debates, resources and publications in the field. Combining a current awareness service with a survey journal for lecturers, researchers, and advanced students of history – it has been created by Blackwell Publishing, in collaboration with the Institute of Historical Research.
History Compass is composed of ten geographical sections, each of which offers the user access to a range of research tools and original content. Each section has at least one dedicated academic editor, an expert in their field, working under the auspices of the Editor-in-Chief Professor Mark Kishlansky of Harvard University, and guided by an international Editorial Board.
